Meaning of junk food

Junk food is an unhealthy food that are high in calories but low in nutritional values.

What are different types of junk foods?

Junk foods include sweet beverages, lollies, chocolates, sweet bites, chips and crisps, crunchy nibble food sources, bread rolls, cakes, fast food, pies, hotdog rolls, jam and honey. The above listed junk foods are low quality foods that are characterized as processed food varieties with  less nutritional values and are often high in salt, sugar and fat.

Harmfulness of junk food

Eating unhealthy food consistently can prompt an increased risk of obesity and chronic illnesses like cardiovascular infection, type 2 diabetes, non-alcoholic fatty liver sickness and cancers.

Children are often eating fast food like burgers and pizzas. They are dependent on chips, sweet beverages and frozen ready meals. TV promotions focusing on kids and German minister wants to ban junk food ads for children.

World obesity  atlas predicts More than half of the world will be overweight or obese by 2035.

Nutrition foods

Nutrients are chemical compounds in food that are used by the body to function properly and maintain health. Examples include proteins, fats, carbohydrates, vitamins, and minerals.
